  • Bring proof of insurance and note mileage
  • Only one check required -  payable to "Town of Sweden"
Register boat
  • If new, bring proof of sales tax paid, age of boat, horsepower, and boat length.
  • Excise tax and registration fees based on horsepower, length, and age of boat.
  • Additional fee of $10 required to support milfoil prevention efforts (state-wide)
  • No registration required for canoes or non-motorized row boats
  • Fees for registering a boat if you are not a Sweden property owner are higher
Register ATV
  • If new, bring proof of sales tax paid; there is no yearly excise tax
  • $33 registration fee plus $1 agent fee for residents
  • $68 registration fee plus $1 agent fee for non-residents
Register snowmobile
  • If new, bring proof of sales tax paid; there is no yearly excise tax
  • $40 registration fee plus $1 agent fee for residents
  • Non-resident 3-day registration: $49 plus $1 agent fee
  • Non-resident 10-day registration: $75 plus $1 agent fee
  • Non-resident season registration: $99 plus $1 agent fee

  • Bring proof of rabies vaccination
  • Bring proof of spaying/neutering (proof required for initial registration of spayed/neutered animals)
  • $6 for neutered dogs; $11 if not neutered
Obtain hunting or fishing licenses Town Clerk at Town Office
  • Various fees and special permits required
  • Resident hunting license: $26 plus $2
  • Resident fishing license: $25 plus $2
  • Resident hunting/fishing combination license: $43 plus $2
  • Non-resident hunting license: $115 plus $2
  • Non-resident fishing license: $64 plus $2
  • Non-resident hunting/fishing combination license: $150 plus $2
Register to vote and vote in an election Town Clerk at Town Office
  • Bring proof of Sweden residency (such as a utility bill)
  • Bring proof of identity (such as a driver's license)
  • Changing declaration of party must be done 15 days before an election
  • Voting held at Town Office; see Town Clerk to obtain absentee ballot
Maintain vital statistics Town Clerk at  Town Office
  • Birth, marriage, death certificates are issued only to principal party or next of kin
  • Various fees apply
Reserve Town Meetinghouse Tax Collector at Town Office
  • Fees for residents or property owners: $50 per day plus $50 security/cleaning deposit
  • Fees for others: $250 per day plus $250 security/cleaning deposit
